How does a Domestic Tour Director lead US tours? Tours may vary from a few days to several weeks. It may be an Adult Tour, Adventure Tour or Student Tour. Most domestic tours are on the same motor coach with the same driver so management can be easier than leading International Tours. It is the responsivity of the Domestic Tour Director to manage the tour and also deliver informative and interesting narration.

When leading local and domestic tours, delivering informative and interesting narration is an important skills. Let me give some suggestions in how to impress your tour members.
Most domestic and international tour operators do not require uniforms but I always suggest the Tour Directors and Tour Guides always dress slightly better than the tour group members. You want the group to know you are professional and you are there to work for them and not on a vacation. When we work in the CMI (Conventions, Meetings and Incentive -MICE) market, we may be required to wear a uniform.
Expected Income for Local and International Tours. Most Tour Directors and Guides earn a salary and gratuities. The more experience and the better you do, the more you'll earn in gratuities. (Income for most careers have increased since video was recorded.)
